The ALPAP historyALPAP was established in Fredericia in 1943 as a subsidiary of an engineering firm. At that time, the market was completely different, and most customers were local. In a single day in 1944, about 40 employees produced approximately 10,000 boxes.
ALPAP expanded and also had success with packaging design, for which they won several awards. In 1981, the owner, Arne Christensen, chose to sell ALPAP to Asger Grønkjær, among others. ALPAP moved to Ferritslev. In 1982, the group of owners was expanded, and ALPAP was strengthened with a sales office in Zealand. At the same time, the company had success with silk screen printing, foil printing and particularly offset printing on plastic.
Cardboard tubes, injection moulding, vacuum forming and cotillion production became part of the supply as well. In 1987, ALPAP moved to Nyborg and brought production of plastic and cardboard boxes into focus. In 2001, ALPAP became a regional finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year. That year, ALPAP also took a large leap with the use of new technology for production of materials from 2-500 microns in Flexoprint from roll to sheet in up to eight colours, particularly for customers within pharmaceutics and cosmetics. ALPAP was put through a health inspection and was ISO 9001-certified.
In connection with the World Trade Center catastrophe, ALPAP lost a large export customer in one of the crashed plains, and many things changed. ALPAP gear down, for example through sale of the subsidiary in Great Britain, ALPAP Packaging Ltd.
In 2005–2007, ALPAP was part of a large printing house in the town Aarhus in Denmark without achieving the expected synergy effects. Therefore, ALPAP is ”alone again”. It is still Asger Grønkjær who is at the helm. And the company is based on well-established cooperation with a long line of sub-suppliers.
